We constantly talk about the transforming and evolving world around us. It’s like a song that’s being passed from ear to ear “This is a revolution”. Yes, we are experiencing a revolution, and change is inevitable in revolutions. Every field and every living being is affected by this mutation. Not being ready for this change is not the change’s problem, but our own. Damla invites you to join this newsletter in exploring the biological revolution.

If you are ready, BioRevolution begins!

When we check the global startup ecosystem map (below), we can see significant numbers of startups are in the Healthech and Foodtech industries. This industry has been growing and will continue to grow.

Time to meet! Who am I?

Hey there, I’m Elif Damla Karakolcu. I started to study molecular biology and genetics at Istanbul University in 2018. During my studies, I got involved with the Genetics Club and the Entrepreneurship Club, which gave me a new perspective. I also did a cool internship in a medical lab where I learned about AR/VR technology. I’m passionate about bio-entrepreneurship, and I started a project called BioPeak Bio-Entrepreneurship Summit, which got support from the Technology and Industry Ministry of Turkey. I’ve also been involved in AI projects in the healthcare industry, including organizing conferences and being an editor for a scientific journal. I completed my internship at TUBITAK. This internship, focused on animal experiments, allowed me to actively participate in research involving laboratory animals, gaining experience in techniques ranging from gavage to literature review. I’ve had so many great experiences, including winner of the “Gender Equality” category in the JCI Turkish Awareness Awards and being selected as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, Fellow at Yenibirlider Association and Akbank, Mentor at Google Developer Student Club Turkey and Project Manager at Leadership Development Program. I was a community coordinator at Komünite working in the micro-funding area and I worked at Fornia in the community consultancy area. I had the opportunity to live in Portugal for 6 months with my own savings and studied here for a semester. In this process, I observed different lifestyles by visiting 2 continents, 9 countries, and 25 cities.

Let’s connect and see how we can make a difference!
